What's your favorite radio station, past or present?
I have only really listened to one. One. Is there another? Waking up to the Breakfast Show, Steve Wright in the afternoon, the supposdly tear-jerking love stories at mid morning, I just loved all of it. I dont listen to radio anymore but here they have quite a good easy listening station called Kiss FM with all the 80s and 90s classics of our youth, and I must confess I like tuning in form time to time if only to sing along to Lady in Red or Eternal Flame.
In honor of Vox's launch tomorrow, what's your favorite feature or aspect of Vox?
Isn´t it already launched? I have been using it for a couple of weeks now.Mmmm. I love that I can post photos that I couldnt on my last blog (hmm. Guess I should ....post some?) QotD is a nice one too. And being a more superficial and less techy type, one of my favourite things are all the designs! Time for a change maybe?
What food or drink do you love when it's cold out? (Recipes and recommendations, please!) Jacket potatoes with baked beans and melted grated chese. Spanish beans. Spanish lentils. Spanish vegetale and chickpea stew. Any suop with crusty bread (pref warm) Mexican. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
What is your earliest memory?
Submitted by Megan.
A few. No idea which is earliest and none are particularly early. One, a friend of Mums coming and we open the door with all of us crowding round and she said she was taking her daughter to a playgroup or something and did "B-E-T-H-A-N-Y" want to come? (spelling it out for some reason, in case....in case, I dont know what...) and me being so excited because a) I had understood my name being spelt and b)I was being invited to something. Then I remember lying on my tummy on the upstairs hall with a long piece of paper trying to copy my name which Mum had written at the top and ending in tears because I couldnt write my name and swore I could never get married because I wouldnt be able to sign the register without help. the little boys next door who were alays going to hospital and how they cracked open their heads one day and Dad took them to hospital. Our first TV, and when Dad tuned it in the first thing I saw was an advert of Kia-ora "We all adore-a Kia-Oooora" and I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen in my life.A friend called Abigail who came to our house once and said "Thank you very much for dinner, can I get down from the table please" and Mum was gobsmacked at her courtesy, I am guessing we had never said that, but from that day onwards we had to!!
Which cartoon character best represents you?
Submitted by Know It All.
When I was younger I used to think (with dismay) that I was like Marcie (Peppermint Pattys friend) You know, bobbed hair, big glasses, normally ignored, serious and practical, trailing round behind far more interesting friends.
Did I mention I need counselling?

PS Please don´t forget the cold debate below, we are waiting for words of wisdom from Esther and Seth
What do you do to get rid of a cold or flu?
Submitted by ashenflowers.
Well I have just discovered that you can flick through all the past "QotD´´s" so if you dont care to answer todays (see todays- describe your first kiss) you can look for another one. So I don´t know about FLU which sounds a bit stronger but when I have a cold it never occurs me to try and get rid of it...I mean..it´ll just go won´t it? I try to drink lots of water as I have noticed this makes it go quicker. Quicker than drinking lots of orange juice thats for sure. Sorry to seem like I am slamming on spanish culture again (must stop doing that) but it really bugs me how people run off to the doctor for a COLD here, and it bugs me even more how quickly the doctors prescribe stuff for it. I mean I know they cannot say to a patient, "Oh don´t be such a baby, blow your nose and get on with it" but perhaps they could say what a doctor once said to a friend of Dads- "Well, I could prescribe you a medecine, and it will be gone in a few days....or I could not prescribe you anything and it will be gone in a few days" Maybe if more doctors responded in a similar way people would not treat it like such a big deal here. Okay, and lets do a little survey. We all know that a cold is a virus right? when do you catch a virus? From someone else. So where did this thing come from , like you will catch a cold if you walk barefoot, of you will catch a cold if you go out with your hair wet (I know you will FEEL cold...but CATCH one?) and a dozen others. One theory is that we catch more colds in winter as we are in confined conditions more, with the windows shut and we all give it to each other. Does anyone know anything about that? Do we really catch more colds in winter? I always get them in summer to be honest. When people catch a cold in summer here (see...temperatures of 45 out) they always look for some climatological motive.."Oh that is because a breeze came into my bedroom at 3am last night, I knew I should have slept under the sheet" Can anyone offer any insight? Is it just old wives tale or is there some basis to it?
What's your favorite thing to shop for?
Submitted by JadedButterfly.
My goodness! How DO I decide? Well as a starting point I have to say that shopping is always funner when you have more money to play with, although the paradox is that one of my favourite things to shop for is a bargain. There is nothing greater than a good buy than a good bargain buy! I always love the charity and bargain shops when I go back to Acomb since we don´t really have second hand shops. We do have the Chinese shops which are for many things quite frankly heavensent. I love shopping for kids clothes (though see "bargain") as there are so many cute ones to be had. I love buying presents for Alfredo as he is so dang appreciative, especially when it is clothing or a book that he likes. (Oh, and Stationary) Actually in general, buying presents is quite fun though some people are very tricky indeed to buy for! What are the last 5 things you bought? Thats my follow up question of the day. Ours would be-
1. Grocery Shop (this morning) 2. Bike helmet 3.White paper for printer (we go through a ton) 4.2 soft drinks (the day before yesterday on our date) 5. Breakfast on our walk after the car broke down.
What was your very first job?
Submitted by Laurel.
Well I was going to say Benjamins Coffee Shop at Jarrolds. MMMMMM...those TEACAKES! And those scones.... But then I remembered those 6 or 8 weeks I spent at Don Millers Bakery before Health and Safety closed it down. I remember I was often on sample trays, standing therein the freezing cold with a tray of pieces of iced bun in one hand, and a packet of iced buns in the other, dutifully informing people of the special offer that day. Then another girl came and I was "promoted" to be trained on the till! There seemed to me to far too many names of bread, including one called a Bloomer. I worked there saturdays and a couple of evenings I seem to remember. My outstanding memory is of tottering home on the bike after a shift with a plastic bag stuffed full of donuts, iced buns, cookies, danish pastries and whatever they were throwing out that day (which was often a lot). I think I was on 1.76 an hour plus all the cakes I could eat which for a 14 year old with nothing else to do of an evening anyway was not bad to my mind back then.
What's the best way to spend a rainy day?
Submitted by Vee.
I love staying in on rainy days with cozy food, cozy house clothes, and a good vid, or a good book. Though splashing in the puddles with boots on with your toddler is always fun. Alfredo swears he loves the rain and he loves walking in it, and staying at home as it rains too. We will see if his money is where his mouth is when it comes to the crunch (or the splash, as he throws himself in at the deep end...I will say when, not if, this will help me to carry on surviving as I drown in a sea of despair right now) The best way to spend the END of a rainy day is walking in a green place and just breathing in that fantastic smell of rained on earth.
