Ellie has been saying "Wow", nay, "oooh wow" for a while, though I would be inclined to think it is just a sound as such but she does use it with the right facial expression, pointing at somehting new or flashy (sigh...so bright!) She was playing wit a little chicken torch that Hannah gave her, that clucks as it shines ( was a hit from day 1) and she started saying "duck-duck-duck-duck" with a huge grin. "duck" as in mimicking the sound, not an attempt to identify the fowl, she is not that advanced! :) Also in Borders yesterday I was reading her a touch and feel book that said "woof" a lot and she was imitating the woof! So precious. For the rest of the time she wandered round as they are prone to do (I love their little waddle) bringing me "In the Night Garden" board books and soft toys. Alfredo has been off wince Friday and is off again today and we are enjoying lots of fun things- car boot sale, Borders, temple trip, lunch-and-play in Ikea (now that I am analysing it we seem to have been in retail establishments quite a lot!) Charlottes Web home cinema, park etc ........more soon.
We are excited because today Esther, Damian, Evan, Hyrum and Jude are coming. Amelia must think this is going to be the best day ever, as before they come she is going swimming, then when they come there is a nice picnic lunch with easter nests, followed by a trip to the candle workshop to make a candle with her cousins and paint her own holder, then we are going to stop off at cheshire ice cream farm to see the animals and have an ice cream. When we get home we will have pass the parcel (I prepared it when they were coming on Ellies birthday but in the end they couldnt make it) an easter egg hunt, play time with her cousins, and chicken wings is on the menu for tea. Must crack on now!
as we speak I am uploading 89 photos onto flickr, some of which may be repeats, and which are in a very random order. Some go as far back as when ellie was being bathed in the egg, others were taken a few days ago. So its a bit of a mish mash but better than my usual contribution which is...nothing at all.....meanwhile...we had man came to see the flat on saturday and made an offer! And retracted his offer on Monday. We have dropped the price again and will re rent it if it doesnt sell. bummer. I really wanted to buy a house. Ellies just woken up, better wrap this up. link follows.
more photos on flickr very soon. I have tons because Alfredo just unloaded his memory card and there were lots I had never seen, and videos. Will get on at as soon as I can, hopefully today.
It is funny how I look forward to hanging out with Alfie in the evnings so so much....yet when he goes out, I look forward to a whole night of solitude so so much! Last night was supposed to be my out-with-friends night (well, I was going out with one friend) but she cancelled on me. Tonight he is out with 2 friends. He made plans to go out to see a film with 3, and 1 cancalled, but he still had two buddies. Guess thats where I went wrong, I should get me some more friends. I have a few good friends here but they are not really friends with each other, whereas Alfredo has a micro group.Anyway here I am alone, and happy, readin', readin' , readin', and doing a cheeky bit of surfin', bit of snackin' and a bit of family historyin'. Night night yall.
This is the centre of Amelias play world. If it isnt playmobil, its the dolls house, and if it isnt that its dressup (Cindarella and pirates being the favourite) or shops. Today she said "Mum, can we play waitresses?" I asked her if she had played it in school and she said "No, I saw it on Ratatouille and I thought "hmmmmmm, that looks like a fun game to play one day!" So I was the customer and she was the waitrss. Miracle of miracles, she played it in Spanish...she got into it so much, "Its going to be a little while" she said about the soup, and then she said to me as an aside "All the cookers try the soup first dont they Mum?" (tries soup) "Hmmm, it needs a little more salt I think" (adds salt) "Now its PERFECT!"
This morning we waited in for a guy about the computer which is seizing up terribly, and the reason was, we only have 256 RAM on it! It is a PC that they were chucking away at work, flat screen and all (yay!) so we are now a two computer family. It cost us 40 quid to rebuild It and we will have to spend a bit now to expand the ram, but it is a great computer really, and now we do not have to fight over the computer. Then we ran Victoria a friend of ours to B and Q to buy paint, as Alfredo and the young men are helping her paint tonight. She is a lady who joined the church about 4 or 5 months back. She lives off fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, and salmon and absolutely nothing else. I cannot understand how she cannot always be starving, but anyway. She is 67 and looks like she is about 40 odd, though she is of dominican descent and they say black people age better? She does have a horrendous memory problem and I cannot decide itf it is vitamin deficiency or just that she is 67 and losing it a bit.Not her marbles....just her memory... She looks so young and well turned out that I forget how old she is.Anyway she is a lovely lady, Dominican but raised in new york so she is bilingual, she had a lot of discussions at our house.I then dropped Amelia at nursery and came home to frantically try to take advantage of Ellies 60 minute nap. Picked up Amelia, and we walked home with Gracie, eating monkey nuts on the way which Amelia has just rediscovered and loves. Here we are now about to have dinner and hanging out for Daddy coming home, always a great moment in our daily lives!
Amelia and Ellie were eating cherry tomatoes this morning, Ellie in little pieces, Amelia was popping them in whole and was reduced to hysterics when it invariably exploded, and the seeds went shooting out. "Thats so funny! It POPPED out of my mouth because it didnt LIKE being in my mouth, did it Mum?" On seeing my jeans sporting a nice blob of seeds, her mirth knew no bounds.
It has been brought to my attention (at this point, I would put a hyperlink to the person who did so but sadly have no idea how to) that I have been a very slack blogger, which I knew already, but here I am seeking to make amends. We have had two birthday parties in the last 3 days, friends of Amelia from church, Rebeca (a princess party) and Ben (a wizzkids party at our very favourite playcentre) She was eager to know whose birthday was next, probably expecting another one in 2 days....It is freezing outside, and despite daffodils a plenty , spring has not yet sprung, I eagerly await it. Amelia is chirpy and well, and enjoying nursery so much, she is learning lots of letters and can write her name (most of the time it's right anyway!) Loves Ellie to death as Ellie does her, Ellie is a little monkey in the best sense of the word, such a cheeky smile and always trying to start a game with you. I love my beautiful family so much!
for not recording all the preciousisms of my two special girls, and when I sit down to do so, my mind goes blank to all the specific funny things Amelia has said...She comes out with some funny stuff, as four year olds do...but I do not write it down, and it goes! The other day at church she was gathering her crayons up to go and colour with a friend and they fell everywhere..."Doh!" she laughed, "I didnt KNOW that my crayons were going to CRASH!" Hearing the organ playing the postlude she said "Quickly mummy, can you help me pick these up....coz we don't want the piano...to TALK without us do we?" (ie the hymn to start) One day she said to me "Mummy...I don't KNOW what Heavenly Father and Jesus have got" (me- what do you think they have got? trying to fathom...) She says thoughtfully "I think theyve got....crystal butterflies...." It transpires , that after a conversation with Alfredo, she was imagining heaven! She must have pondered the most beautiful thing that there could ossibly be in such a place.....bless her! On toilet habits....as all kids she loves to observe...."Sometimes Mummy..." she begins after most toilet trips and comes out with an acute observation.."Sometimes Mummy, when you do a poo and you squeeze, your head hurts" (make mental note to include more fibre in her diet!) "Sometimes Mummy, when you do a wee at school , another kid tries to see your bottom" (make mental note to talk to Mrs Lewis!) She just means that the doors are really low there, and a child, standing up can see right over the doors and partitions....Ellie has discovered the ...trampoline! She loves it and makes a sneaky beeline for it at every opportunity. Many times I have found her, up, holding on, and bouncing, all by erself, yesterday me and Amelia sneaked up and found her bouncing in absolute hysterics. I videoed it on my phone, and will have to post it up. Ellie has 4 teeth now and walks a few wobbly steps sometimes but prefers crawling, though she does stand by herself a lot, generally bouncing to music and clapping. Such a ray of sunshine. Well, must crack on...
